For procedures and consultations covered by health insurance, Mr Coombes practices within the limits of the major insurance companies. It is important that you ensure that your policy will cover the cost of the proposed procedure. Individual quotations are available for self-paying patients on request.
When considering surgery that is not covered by health insurance you will be given an account proposal detailing the total cost of the proposed procedure. This comprises the surgical fee, the anaesthetic fee and the hospital package price. The hospital package will be a fixed price for the stated length of stay and is paid directly to the hospital on the day of admission.
For refractive surgery the fee is a fixed price that includes any follow-up consultations. There is no anaesthetic or hospital fee. The initial consultant fee is re-imbursable against the surgical fee.
Upon discharge the hospital may make an extra charge for some take-home medicines and dressings as well as any x-rays or blood tests that you might have required.
The surgical and, if required, anaesthetic fees are payable ten days in advance of surgery and these fees will include postoperative care and any follow-up consultations.
