Dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) is the commonest operation for tear-duct blockage. Andrew Coombes regularly performs this procedure and undertook subspeciality training in this field. He has experience in both the direct skin (external) and nasal endoscopic (internal) approach. Surgery is typically under general anaesthetic and requires a night in hospital after surgery.
The American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS) provides further patient information on this subject.
